Modelo MES — order acceptance and production tracking in the browser
A web-based system with which Modelo accepts production orders and tracks their execution across the production facilities — no paper trail, no follow-up calls.
Background
Modelo manufactures orders in its own production facilities. Before the system, order acceptance and status tracking ran through separate channels: enquiries by email and phone, statuses on paper or in spreadsheets nobody maintained centrally.
That meant no reliable overview: which order is where? Which facility is working on what? Answers cost follow-up questions — for every order, every day.
Requirements
- Record orders centrally — with all the data production needs
- Show the execution status per order and facility
- Capture status changes directly at the facility
- Keep running and completed orders cleanly separated — for reporting and traceability
- Usable in the browser, without installation on individual workstations
- Roles and permissions for different user groups
The solution
We developed a web-based system that accompanies an order from intake to completion. Order acceptance records orders with all relevant data; each facility reports progress directly in the system. The current status is visible to all authorized users immediately.
The frontend is built in React, the backend in Node.js, the data storage in MongoDB. This keeps the system fast and lets it grow step by step as new requirements come from production.
